Ordered 17X8 IROC wheels, need tire suggestion please

I just ordered a set of 17X8 IROC replica wheels for my sons '91 RS. The tire salesman suggested 245X45X17.

Does this sound right. I was thinking someone else suggested a 245X50X17. the salesman said that might be too tall.

Suggestions or experience from anyone please?

I'm running 245/45/17 on my slp zr1 rims, they're just fine...

17 by 8 also.

My iroc 255/50/16 rub a little at full turn. I think the 50 series tire would also be a bit tall. Plus, lower profile tires look good.

Where did you get the wheels from and how much did they set you back?

I had 245/50/17 on my Iroc's at one point and I do remember that they rubed at full turn but not much. I now have 245/40/17 and it's perfect no rub at all. Go with 45 or 50 if it's stock height but if your thinking of lowering it 40 would be the best choice.
