Falken Ziex-512 vs. Kuhmo ECSTA 711
I was toying between the Falken Ziex-512 and the Kuhmo ECSTA 711 for my sons Camaro. I've about decided to go with the Falken's due to their customer satisfaction survey's results and they were also Consumer Reports best pick.
Another guy talked up the Yokohama S430's

I think you made the right choice. I have the 512s on both my '92 RS V6 and another car. That other car had the 711s on it when I bought it but I got a screamin' deal on a tire/wheel package for it, and went with the 512s. The difference was staggering - the 711s would break loose very easily, even in dry conditions, but the 512s stick much better. They take a few hundred miles to break in, but once they do they offer great performance for the price, especially considering they're an all season tire.
On the Camaro they give way more traction than the Kelly Springfield crap that was on it. It was almost impossible to pull away from a stoplight in the rain without spinning the rears on the RS. Not with the 512s - they're great in the rain.
I'm very happy with them on both cars.

I've got the yoko's on the front and I like them, but I couldn't tell you how well they'd hook the car(on the back) I've had no issues in corners(I push it hard sometimes) though...a buddy of mine was running the 512's and couldn't hang w/ me in a corner(245/40-17x8 on 4-corners)...
I have the Kuhmo 711's and for the price they can't be beat.

if you want traction get slicks.
and they stick in the cornors good enough for me.
I had a buddy with the Kumho's and he spun everywhere. Ended up totaling his car when he slid off a corner I barely made with my Goodyears. My brother has some of the Falken's on his Rustang tho and they seem to grip just fine.

I got the 512's on my firebird and I like them, they don't break loose when I floor it stopped, don't slide when I take corners quick. They aren't terrible in the snow either, about as well as can be expected with no weight added to the car and an all season tire.

I've got the 512's on my 92 rs....255/50/16......these were one more dollar a piece at edge racing than the 245/50/16......the 245's at edge are an H rated tire and the 255's are a Y rated tire.....they were at the door for $308......btw they dont rub anywhere and are awesome in the rain and dry....the falkens get my vote everytime............hope this helps
well, you can't expect tires that cost $58 a piece to perform like $200 tires.

I like knowing real-world numbers(for a street car) not 1-time perfect pass, set-up for drag racing. I run the same set-up at the track as I drive everyday...
