295 50-16 will they fit a factory iroc 16" wheel well enough to rely on?

295 50-16 will they fit a factory iroc 16" wheel well enough to rely on?
I put 295 45-17 kuhmo ecstasa tires on my wife's mustang and they work out well, but I am not sure what size wheel her car has on the rear. It is a torque thrust wheel which comes on the bullet mustangs. I would like to run the bfgoodrich 295 50 16 on my iroc, but am not sure if the foot print would be as large as it has potential to be with the rim size being narrower and all.

Most people will recommend no larger that a 255 for a stock 16" wheel, the size you suggested seems to large. At least, thats my understanding of what I have read and been told. Some can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

worked well for me, you'll have to do some major inner-fender well massaging to get them to fit though.
BFG designed these to work with an 8"-10" wheels, being that the iroc is a 16x8, it works just fine. has more sidewall bulge than most people on this board like though, but it seems that if you don't have at least a 17" diameter wheel, your not cool anyhow.

nova, I remember you had 275's on your 15x7 camaro wheels....
do you have a picture from the rear of the 295's?
I've got 15x8 wheels, and 275's in the rear, I LOVE the look of it, but i'm greedy, and will probably move to a 295 later.

sounds good to me. I am running the 275 60's right now and they keep hitting the top of the fender well. About the inner fender work; did you just run a hammer along that sum bitch or what? I hammered the hell out of mine already to fit some daddy slicks, so I hope I won't need to hammer much more. I really don't have any more room.
- why run a tire that's built for a rim 2 inches wider than what you have? Especailly when you can get better traction out of tires that actually fit right? BFG T/A's are crap for traction. I've seen better 60fts out of Fulda's, which aren't a great tire(great true street tire, but nothing compared to DR's), and they were only 255's as compared to the 295's. Also, it's hard to get them to wear even, when they're trying to pull the corners of the tire up becasue of the sidewall being pulled in so far. It can be done, but you'll have to play with psi, and re-check/re-set it often.

about 40K HARD miles. the blue smoke was attributed by the broken piston ring lands on #7. Supreme Member

well, from personal experience, they fit fine, however, i do not push my ride to the limits going around turns etc., my car is a straight line performer.

on a car with no inner fender well modifications...yes, i'd be concerned, however, mine were modified for it to fit via my BFH and some fender lip rolling as well.

my dad used to have BFG 295/50/16's on his iroc wheels in the back. they looked ncie and fit fine but...he had some wider wheel spacers on the back. over some bumps and turns if you were goin even just slightly fast, the tires would rub on the iside lip of the wheel well. so after a while they had a kinda nasty lookin edge around the outside of the sidewall. also, i dont htink they cought traction as well as the 245/50/16's do that are on it now.
