Wide Rims
Wide Rims
So, I have some 10" rims that I have mounted some 255/50ZR16's on, and they do not fit on the front. The rim impacts the suspension before the lug bolts even start poking through the holes. As I was retarded, and did not research this ahead of time, I's really like to modify the car to take the wheels instead of the other way around. When I bought the car, they guy gave me those rims, and said he was going to go ahead and put them on, but, had to get rid of the car for other reasons. I decided to try to fulfill that goal, and they do not fit! I have not tried the back yet, but, it looks like it might have the same problem. I will test it later. Anyway, I guess the real question I have is can I extend the wheel hubs or anything so it will fit the tire securely. I am not worried about the steering or anything at this time, I am counting on being able to modify the wheel wells to be larger. Please let me know if there are any products, for the F-Bird, or generic that will be able to extend it so the rim will fit on the car. I feel that will be my easiest option at this point. Thanks!

when running wheels that wide on the front offset and backspace are real important measurements.
Also I would go with a wider tire, like a 275

255/50/16s on a 10" rim
would you please send me some pics of your rims and tires. I want to widen my rims from 8" to 10" but wasnt sure a 255 tire would fit the 10" rim.
I want to see how the tire sidewall is. I want to keep my 16" rims just widen them to 10" and use the same size you are.
My email is mwc_hall@yahoo.com
Thanks,
Mike
