How BIg of spacers do i need!! help

How BIg of spacers do i need!! help

hi i have a 1985firebird,and i have a 4thgen rearend in it and a stock front. the rims are C5 rims and the front size is 17x8.5 and the rear are 18x9.5,and a 245/45 on front and 275/40 on rear, i tried putting the front ones on they are hitting the shocks and the middle of the rim the center cap didn't fit back on as well how can i make these rims fit my car id hate to sell them and have to get something else. thankyou
