control arm trouble

control arm trouble

im having a bit of trouble putting my control arms back in. im tring to do this without a compresser. i can get it jacked up and attach it the the spindle but im having difficulty getting it to bolt up with the pivot bolts. pretty much what i need to kno is how you guys have done it, whats the easiest way. i tried searching but had only a lil luck, no clear answers. any help would b awsome as id like to get her back on the road. thanx alot

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
jack it up on the innermost edge, that lip, between the two bushings. Use a crowbar, or big screwdriver, to force the bushing into the slot in the k-member, it will want to twist. make sure front and back are sliding in right. You may have to put a jack stand under the lip/spring perch, and move your jack to right below the bushing itself, and jack there, get one in, then do the other one. They aren't easy, that's for sure. It'll be too far out/in, so you can pry it outwards, and/or lower the car a bit to bring the a-arm in a bit. You'll have to play with it to know what I mean.

There were a lot of helpful tips in that thread, and a couple other links. After they responded to my thread, I got them in that night. I used the method RBob suggested.

I suggest having help. We had 3 people do it, and they went in fine. Good luck!
