UMI torque arm - having a problem

I bought this months ago, but it sat around in my garage since I knew I was pulling the engine soon anyway. I figured that I would put it on along with putting the engine back in.

I bought it to fit on my Moser 9", but I seems like it's interfering with the Moser bracket or someting...I can't get the bolt holes to line up no matter which way I position it.

t's real close, but not close enough. The stock torque arm fit it fine, so I thought this one would.

I didn't see any thing about it not fitting a 9" on the website - it's a #2206. Non-adjustable trans mounted torque arm. Anyone had problems with thiers?? Or am I doing something wrong here?

EDIT: BTW, I also added a UMI wonderbar, built nice and it fit fine!!

maybe you need to file out the holes a little bit, but to be honest with you, why would you buy a trans mounted torque arm if you need a 9" rear end. i think it's time to mount that torque arm either to a crossmember or get a jegs style.

I never said I "needed" a 9" rear....I have one already.

Now.....did I "need" it? Hmmm. No..... I "wanted" it.

Filing the holes oblong is something I'm trying to avoid because it'll create slop in the arm possibly. I guess I'd have to take a pic...it would be alot of filing -it's not THAT close or it would be together already....and I already bought the TQ arm, Besides, I've heard of cars in the 10's with a trans mounted torque arm....and it's mostly a street car.

AH, man!!! This is frustrating! No one's had any issues with this TQ arm not fitting? It's def. a "show stopper"...

I suppose I'll give UMI a call and see what they say.....but I can see I'll most likely end up selling this thing FOR A LOSS...because I don't see a way this will fit without grinding on it.

So if anyone has any input - PLEASE REPLY!!!

xpndbl3, you may be right - I should've just gotten the Jeg's TQ arm and been done with it....assuming it will fit....

You will have to grind it. This is common with most 9" rear ends, depending on the brand. We usually have no trouble with the Moser rear ends but others have required us to grind the mounting brackets or rear end to fit correctly. Again this is common, you will run into this issue with just about any aftermarket torque arm if you are having trouble with this on. Either grind some off the rear end or off the torque arm. We have ground the rear ends before to allow the torque arm to slide on further for it line up.

The holes are over sized slightly to expect the 9"s larger hardware and shouldn't need opened up...just need to get it to slide on further.

Hope that helps,
Ryan
