Need Power Steering Pump Help
I have a steering box from 1989 RS orginally with v6. This is the chassis.
Car now has v8.
What power steering pump do I need to buy? I am not running a serpintene belt. So I will need a fan belt type pulley.
What hoses ends work with the 1989 box? and said pump?
What length water pump do I need to work with said PS Pump and fan belt type pulley.
If it is easier to buy a fast ratio box and related pump hardware and lines i can go that route too. just need it all to work with fan belt vs serpintine.
Please give advice on how best to piece this together.

hi there
you need 80 and up hoses and fitting for backside of pump that the high side hose connects to
pump setup depends on if you you will run a/c or not
if youre going to run a 70s something sbc engine then just get a pump setup off pretty much any chevy car or truck without a/c, these are dirt common and cheap
this was in the 70s and older in most all cases,
but there are some 80s chevy vehicles with no a/c from factor,y as im sure you know
thats what youe would want
if you dont plan on installing a/c on the engine
let me know if you need any more info, i can help, ive been through this many times,
79 and older is flared type hose ends and fitting, and box, 80 and up are the compression o-rong type
and just for fun i will state that a new high side p/s hose is 15 bucks at o reilly auto parts for a TG F body with sbc engine, regardless if is a/c equipped or not, i was just there after one for my 82 t/a the other day
15 is dirt cheap for a high pressure hose assembly
good luck

Thanks,
The car will not have AC. So based on what you said, the hose fitting to the pump is the same regardless of the hose fitting to the box?
I can pirate a PS pump bracket from the bone yard and buy a new pump and plumb the proper hose to the box and be ok?
on the exist side of the box I will need the o ring style fitting that goes with the heat exchanger tube and back to the box?
Please confirm that I am correct.
Thanks.
