Another Front Spring Q?
Ok I'm pretty sure I have this worked out but wanted to be sure so here goes
A thirdgen uses a 5.5 inch diameter front spring so any standard circle track spring would work (bassically) but most are too short so you need a weight jack or a spring spacer to take up the extra distance
So could I use something like this
Here
Placed on top of the and a regular 9.5 x 5.5 inch circle track spring?
Also would it be nessacary to tack weld the spacer to the upper spring bucket?
And would a 900 Lb spring rate be a decent choice for this I'm looking for a pretty firm ride and going for a kind of low buck pro touring thing with my car (jack of all trades master of none)
All feedback is appreciated
Thanks
AL

900lb/in spring rate?!?! Are you sure that's what you want? That would be like riding a skateboard... Street driven?
I mean, I use the moog 5664, which is 750ish lb/in, compared to the stock 5660 on my car, 560lb/in, its rock hard. I like it though. I think 900 would be pretty excessive though.
Sorry, I don't have any useful technical help for you, just making sure thats what you want to do.

I really dont see it being to stiff...........but the good part about using stock car springs is that there cheap and readily avalible in many different rates should I want to change later down the road
And yes it will be street driven

I used the AFCO adjustable spacers and springs on the 1st gen. Great way to go, easy to adjust the height, and a wide selection of spring rates.
To fit the upper pocket the top of the spacer was tapered from 0 to 1/4 ". this allowed the spacer to sit square to the spring. They aren't welded in, the spring pressure holds it in place.
On a 3rd gen the spacer can be placed in the lower pocket. No shock to deal with.
