I dont think that you can. The torque arm is supposed to keep the rear-end housing from rotating.

What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe Im not understanding the question.

im about to change out the bushing and ive read some posts where they say there was little or no bind at all, but never said how.......no 2x4 or fighting required........is the bind really bad? im using a jack with stands in my driveway. just dont want to fight it if it shoots up/down..................thanks.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
The force on the torque arm, when the car is sitting still, comes from the sprpings and the support method used to hold up the rear, not being exactly opposite each other.

Support the rear of the car on jack stands, just in the front of the LCAs, up high. Then jack up the rear just enough to lift it up off of the fully extended shocks (about 1-2" above freely hanging), and support it there, above the shock travel limit, with a pair of jack stands UNDER THE AXLE TUBES. Not under the pumpkin, not under some of the brackets, not anywhere else, except UNDER THE AXLE TUBES themselves. Remember, TUBES.

If you do it that way, there will be as little force as possible trying to rotate the rear and thereby putting force on the TA bushing.
