My iroc ran into a curb at 20-25 mph theres suspension damage and a tear on the frame/body where the a arm mounts. right now the car isnt drivable... should i pull apart the front end and fix whats needed and drive it to the frame shop(would it be safe to drive it with the tear) or have it towed there first then take it home and rebuild the front end?
Got any pictures of the damage? The A-arms attach to the K-member, luckily it can be removed and replaced with another K-member out of another car. So if it was just the K-member that got damaged then you might be able to fix it for relatively cheap. But if the frame itself was damaged then you're looking at alot more work. The K-member itself is not that hard to remove, but the process of getting to it can be a pain. The engine needs to be lifted out of the bay, and the front suspension needs to come apart. I would source the replacement part from the junkyard, the K-member is a strong piece and not a wear item, as long as its not rusted or bent then its good. Usually when jumping curbs the A-arm, balljoint, strut mount, and steering linkages get hammered. If the damage was extensive enough to reach the K-member you might really want to check all the suspension components out. Make sure things aren't bent before putting them back on. Make sure bushings wern't damaged. When everything is back together have a frame shop check it and a realignment will be required.
