Hotchkis springs = H&R springs?

I was curious if a few years ago , hotchkis used to carry H&R springs? Mine are in an H&R box, with a hotchkis shipping label affixed to it. They were purchased some years ago by someone else. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks

Will

Most spring vendors just buy generic springs from the same few spring manufacturers- they then powder coat the springs some funky color and sell it to the public as their own.

I have first hand knowledge that Guldstrand just sells genereic Moog springs as his performance springs for some Vette and Camaro applications- he just calls them his own like all others do.I believe Eibach actually does make and sell their own- but am not fully certain of that to be a fact.

They actually started out by making valve springs for tractors I believe.

Re: Hotchkis springs = H&R springs?

I have hotchkis springs on my chevelle. Came in a hotchkis box. Springs were labeled hotchkis. I doubt that they are because H&R doesnt make springs for our cars any more. Could have been a possibility back a few years ago when hotchkis was a much smaller and lesser known company. Now they are huge and probably have spring tooling machinery in house.

All I know is that Hotchkis spring rates for our cars suck something wicked.
650lbs on the front with a 1" drop. OUCH!
Ditto for my chevelle. 550lb front IIRC. They tend to be on the soft, I mean super soft side.

I liked my Hotchkis springs when I had em in my Z.
Has Eibachs in my TA and liked em just as much as the Hotchkis.

I have coil overs in all 4 corrners now. Well see how they are when I get the car back on the road.
