Best LCA CHOICE?
I am in need of replacing my lower control arms and need an opinion on what to buy. I don't want too expensive but i want quality!!!!
this one is a set that also comes with a panhard bard

what do you think?
or i could get cheaper generic ones from my dads autobody and supply shop for cost price?
Also, should i be thinking about sub frame connectors?

That's a very good choice there, UMI brand, sold by UMI, poly/rod end for both. $264 for the set. That's a pretty good price IMHO for what you're getting, but I don't think it's exactly "cheap" for what you may need. Might want to look at lower control arm relocation brackets as well.
And yes, you should be looking at subframe connectors - first actually.

UMI products are some of the best made pieces out there, but yes, SFC first

Re: Best LCA CHOICE?
wow i never thought of making my own lcas as im no welder. I am having a guy weld in a new floor so maybe i thought he could make SFCs from scratch, but LCAs are too complicated.

Re: Best LCA CHOICE?
Well, SFC's are usually the complicated ones, but I have Hotchkis ones, and they're EASY. Rectangular tubing, and two flat pieces on the ends to weld to the stock frames. I could make these babies up with a mig welder and an angle grinder in minutes. (very easy).
LCA's again, can be easy or hard, depending on what style. Poly-poly, poly-rod end, or double rod end. Double rod end is probably the easiest, weld in a threaded insert into each end and thread in the rod ends and you're done. A long piece of rectangular tubing and the right size hole saw would make a box style set of poly-poly set, no welding required....
A guy made a post on here a little while ago about aluminum LCA's. No welding required, the parts are fairly pre-assembled. It was a pretty cheap final price tag as well IIRC. He did rubber-rod end.
Lots of ways to skin a cat here.

as far as the LCAs, i went with Spohn non-adjustable ones with poly/poly ends. they work awesome, and weren't expensive at all.
you could also pretty easily (and very inexpensively) get your stock LCAs "boxed", but i don't know if i recommend making your own from scratch.

yeah, you'll want to look at SFCs first.

i actually read it when it was originally posted. it's a great article, but my suggestion stands - i don't think that making them from scratch is necessarily a good idea for everyone. especially when there are so many that are available out there for pretty good prices.
just my $0.02.

I don't consider screwing a rod end into a pre-threaded aluminum tube of the correct length and having to cut a few spacers really making something from scratch. That goes for someone who might not really be that mechanically inclined.
You are right though, in that it's not for everyone.
Want to "ASSEMBLE" almost the same thing as the UMI brand for less than half the price?---------------> Follow the frrax article
More money than wrenching ability----------------> Buy premade.

We can agree to disagree then, part of what makes the world go 'round.

Re: Best LCA CHOICE?
im not a fan of using aluminum pieces for the rear suspension, its probably just me as usual, but id rather have a piece of steel tubing or chromoly than a fatigue prone piece of aluminum holding my rear in my car.

I have the LCAs like the link to FRRAX. I really like them. I had some Spohn dual polyurathane ended ones, and I hated them. So loud and they tended to bind. Here is a link to the thread with them. It may help.
