is it my suspention thats going to kill me?
is it my suspention thats going to kill me?
first off, I purchased my first camaro, a 1982 Berlinetta about two weeks ago, thought i got it for a fair price and all, just needs some tlc and a bigger motor eventually but i have a big issue.
the big issue, well as i drive down the road and i let off the gas the car fells as if it is dumping to the drivers back tire, sliding from under me then jurks to the left. its kinda difficult to explain but i have no experence with these kind of cars and dont have a clue of what it is, i believe its something in the drivers rear end somewhere-----what ya think?????
oh and if i lay on the gas and hit a little bump at high speeds the car basicly jerks back and fourth till i can get it under control and this sucks cause if i cant get the problem solved by sunday i cant race at the track
any help or comments will be appricated
thanks

Sounds like an LCA or the panhard is broken in half or something. A close look at the rear suspension should show something pretty obvious.

you have car issues and you want to take it to the track to race? Go to a shop nearby and pay to have their inspection done, it's usually $35 and will tell you what you need to replace.
Re: is it my suspention thats going to kill me?
yeah i want to race but i dont want to take any chances when i know something could go wrong, im not racing unless i can fix it in time.

D@mn - sorry to hear that.
I know you may not be in the mood to hear this, but if you were to persevere & find another F-body, I'd bet that you'll never go back.
Best of luck, regardless.

In Hawaii, all the Hondas are completely perforated before they're five years old. By ten, you can't even tell what kind of car they were...
Perhaps when you buy cars you should actually *test* drive them first?
Yes. Go back to Hondas.

i knew someone would bash me for driving a honda but ive owned chevys,a dodge,a ford, a few hondas, a mazda, pontiac, alot of vehicles and so far the hondas have lasted me the longest....i think its foolish for people to bash on other vehicles unless you have personally had the chance to own what you are bashing on, and you cant say well all hondas suck cause i see a few rusted ones or had a problem with one, thats stupid.
i drive what i find that makes me happy, i dont even know what my next car will be, jsut wwhat comes across my nose
so i leave you with this picture of me at the strip in my 91 civic hatch racing heads up in the most reliable and fastest vehicle i have ever owned

No one is bashing on you for having or liking on honda, someone is bashing on the fact that you seemingly like it for no proof. Like saying "honda's don't rust, Camaro's rust", which I think is what Rayvan thought you were implying. That's worthy of being bashed for.
What on earth is in that '91 Civic to make it fast??? Especially faster than that blue camaro, which you seem to have made look like it's standing still...

its prolly a stock V6 camaro and some tricked out Vtec with nos and turbo. LOL i get that all the time they pull up next to ya...
Wanna race?
Shure! they beat ya by mabe a nose and ya ask them what they have done. Out comes the mile long list of "mods" and then they ask you what your is.
oh just a 20+ year old camaro with a bone stock V6. they really look stupid then. there are some fast imports but you rarely see a fast one on the street cause they are much less drivable than a domestic of the same performance class plus the domestic will usually have a long ways more to go and the import is maxed.
Just my .02 from what I have seen.

I was giving you crap for inferring that an ’82 Honda won’t ever rust.
BTW, You’ve pegged my BS meter. I think you just came here as a troll looking for a conflict.
Someone with enough intelligence to make an underpowered econobox go fast should have certainly had enough brains to purchase a car that’s not rusted to death then make blanket statements that *the musclecar* is at fault for his own idiotic decision.
So either you’re a Honda troll who never owned a Camaro, or you’re real stupid. So stupid that you bought a rust-bucket without even knowing you’ve been ripped off.
Which is it?
Hit the door, troll.

I wasn’t giving you crap for owning a Honda. Honda makes a fine car.
