Let me just explain the situation first and then ask the question. 91 camaro, installed eibach sportlines in the car with normal munroe shocks (all the way around). The problem right now is that I just installed a 4th gen rear axle in the car and the axle is 1.75 inches (approx) wider than the 3rd gen rear end. Therefore, with the ride height the way it is with the sportline's installed, the upper sidewall of my rear tires are hitting the inside of the fender wall because they stick out further. I know the easy solution is to install the old axle back in, (4th gen = 3.73 posi, 3rd gen = 2.73 open ended wonder), but I'm looking to raise the ride height of the car. Eibach pro kit's are only 1" drops but I've been talking to a couple of road/rally racers and they have told me that eibach's progressive rate is crap. I have recently looked under the rear of my car and have seen that the bump stops have been hitting the axles..so the springs are basically not preventing the car from bottoming out in the back. With any weight besides me in the car (another person, luggage whatever) the car is bottoming out consistantly. So here's the question -> What is a good aftermarket spring that I can use for my camaro that can raise the ride height and still have that racing feel or what can I do to keep the car from bottoming out without changing the axle. I have a lot of power running through my machine so I need something that has a good solid feel to it, but I'm not familar with too many spring sets out there that aren't eibach. Hopefully the you experts can help me out with this..and sorry for the essay.

 

Are you still running the 3rd gen wheels on the rear with the 4th gen rear? If so then that probably contributing to the contact because the tire will be really close to the fender. When guys swap in the 4th gen rearends they usually run 4th gen spec'd wheels on the rear (and usually adapters on the front). But beyond that I think another contributing factor is actually the struts/shocks, not the springs. Those OEM replacement quality struts/shocks are not going to be good matches for aftermarket lowering springs. They're too sloppy, you're getting more suspension travel than you want, and thats whats causing contact. If the contact is only in the rear then just replace the rear shocks with something geared towards aftermarket performance (Koni, Bilst, Tokico, etc).
