I would like to convert my '82 Z28 to manual steering and was wondering if there are any aftermarket kits out there to do so. I think I read some where flaming river has one. Im just trying to figure out the best way to do it. Thanks.

Most people simply swap a manual box from an S-10. There are usually some in junkyards. I had one on one of my cars and it fit fine. I paid about $60 for mine.

only problem is that in 82 the output shaft diameter is larger than the s-10 one so you will have to figure out something
whether the s-10 arm is curved right, etc
if you do this then i need all the p/s pump to gear hoses/lines/fittings for my 82 including the fitting screwed into the backside of the pump that the hose lines screws into
as long as the high side hose is not hacked/modified
do you plan on doing this soon ?
good luck

Well Im in the middle of a motor swap right now but I should be togther within the month. For a short while I will be using the PS but Ill switch to a manual box soon. Id gladly send you my lines and what not if they were worth it it still had the stock ones on when I bought the car and I popped the high side hose blew the fitting clean off whilst pulling into my pit and i replaced it with a cheapo autozone and it was leaking by the time I pulled the motor and trans. I just decided that I dont need PS and its less weight and less drag on the engine and Im sick of screwing with it lol.
An 84+ S-10 manual box is a direct swap. Swap over the third gen pitman arm.
A manual box can be found in S10/S15 trucks that came with a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine but not all 4 cyl trucks have manual steering.
There's usually always one being offered on Ebay. You want the steering box that has 4 bolts on the squarish top cover. The triangular top cover with 3 bolts is GM's earlier version and isn't a direct swap.
I've had a manual box from an 87 S10 in my race car for at least 7 years now.
