bmr or aje kmember
bmr or aje kmember
anyone have a bmr or aje standard spring style k-member. i want chromoly but pa seems to be the only option and i'd like to try a new company. anyone have a k member from either of these?
Re: bmr or aje kmember
A buddy's 02 stang has an AJE. Fitment was great and the product quality was top notch. When used with the aje tube arms, he had a "clunk" when turning left. We tried everything we could find, but it still had the clunk. It's got over 20k on it now with the stock arms. - It runs bottom 12's and is his only transportation.
I worked on a 91 camaro with the BMR k-member and arms. I did not do the install, so I can't coment on how it went together, but it looked to fit the car well, and the product quality was again top notch. It had spherical arm ends, so it had the expected extra noises and road vibrations.
I wouldn't be worried by either in a healthy street car, but for continual auto-x I might add a couple gussets.
also, personally I'm not a fan of moly. The weight savings doesn't offset the fatigue. Moly will only take one impact. I've seen too many cars destroyed upon the 2nd impact of a crash(i.e the wall, then the other car) NHRA and IHRA are the only sanctioning bodies I know of that actually require moly in faster vehicles. Road race/land speed/baja type sanctioning bodies all require steel for faster classes due to the types of crashes involved with the sport(more than 1 impact).

i've heard horror stories online from every company out there. i'd go with spohn except i've heard the most horror stories about his. couple that with the turnaround and i need something better.
as far as chromoly i understand your argument but i don't really agree with it's logic. i had pa for 4 years.. granted i wasn't auto-x or hitting walls but it worked great. i wouldn't expect to reuse a k-member that took such an impact anyhow as if this car gets in a wreck at 50mph or more the whole thing will have to be parted out. pa and spohn are the only ones i know offering chromoly so it looks like i just might have to try pa again. guess we'll see, i appreciate the reply.
