Anyone use these LCAS?

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...95134_-1_10063

I found a parts car and the owner is selling the same type for $90. They seem rather cheap since I've seen new LCAs go for around $220. This guy said he got his for $145 from Jegs.

Re: Anyone use these LCAS?

the link does not work, so i cant help there, but you can get the lakewood control arms from summit/jegs for around 94 bux new, plus shipping of course. or you could dig around ebay and see whats there, usually you can find good part for a good price there.

Re: Anyone use these LCAS?

thats a lot of money for a set of boxed arms, the lakewood ones are the same thing and cost almost 100$ less, but if they are in good shape and you can get them cheaper then go for it.

Re: Anyone use these LCAS?

Boxed = crap

Those Granatelli ones aren't boxed, they're square tubing.

Tubing, either square or round, is the way to go.

I have the Lakewoods. http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/tractionbars.pdf page 3 of the file, part # 20140. Cost me about $75 at the time (which was not real recent....) They look IDENTICAL to those Granatellis except they're black instead of red. I fail to see what you would get by paying twice as much for the Granatelli product.

Re: Anyone use these LCAS?

"boxed" technically means you welded some flat bar into your stock ones and "boxed" them. That's what i've done, pretty cheap, and you approach the strength of a square tube version (approach is the key word).
UMI himself posted a link to his version there, $105 with grease points on it - that's a good piece there.

The one I have is the only one I have ever seen. Stole it from another board.

So what's the difference between square tubing and round tubing?

Re: Anyone use these LCAS?

One is round, the other is square....
Round is a bit smaller, more clearance for massive tires. There isn't really a structural difference until you hit thousands of HP most likely.

Re: Anyone use these LCAS?

i heard somewhere that the square tubing stresses more unevenly because of the square shape with 4 corners, as opposed to the round, where the stress is evenly distributed around the circular shape.

could be total im not an engineer

i was studyin to be a mechanical engineer.. got enough classes in to say that a box arm will load up on the corners rather than the entire frame like a tube will and under enough pressure, it will twist, get shorter and possibly bend.. blah blah blah blah blah
