UMI has a arms now, what do you guys think?

Different design from the Spohn and BMR a arms. Anybody see a reason not to use these?

they look good. straight forward design looks very tough. - looks like a typical UMI product.

I'm not seeing a stop in the spring pocket like the OEs, otherwise they look good. What's the price tag and do they lower like the Spohns?

Do explain the benefits other than bling. What the difference in weight between these and the stockers? Personally I'm going with braced stock arms and global west bushings

They are $395, but right now there only $335 with the TGO group purchase.

I asked about indexing the springs, here is he response I got:

Hope that helps,
Ryan
And here is the response I got when I asked about using them with a Prokit:

The same should be so for the Sportlines, right?

Re: UMI has a arms now, what do you guys think?

First, I have to say I am a total backer of UMI performance, Ryan and the guys are great, and do great work.
But, I do second the question, other than a bit of weight savings, what is the biggest benefit? Looks????? More room????? Please give info.
I do really like these pieces, but what are the benefits to justify spending the cash.
I was also told that the Torque Arm is now availible for our cars, the one that relocates it off the transmission.
I wonder how long before they release a K-Member for 3rd gens??? Hmmm.

I take it they sent you this info by e-mail? They aren't on their website. They told me of the release of the new torque arm, it'll be up on their website soon too I was told.

Re: UMI has a arms now, what do you guys think?

I have their TQ arm already, it comes with a new transmission cross member, were the tq arm mounts, a real nice piece. Click on the links in my sig for pics.

Ryan doesn't think there will be any issues with sportlines, but he hasn't tried the installation with them yet.

Re: UMI has a arms now, what do you guys think?

I'm also a BIG fan of UMI and so far all my suspension is UMI.

I wrote to Ryan about purchasing a set of A arms and if they will be making a K member anytime soon (like BMR and Spohn). He said they are working on it. Also their A arms fit like the factory ones so a Spohn or BMR k member should fit.

Don't hold your breath on sway bars though. He said they have no plans to make sway bars and that neither Spohn or BMR make their own sway bars. They are made by a third company.

Re: UMI has a arms now, what do you guys think?

Thanks for the comments

The A-Arms weigh in at 5.56lbs less per set then the factory A-Arms. Not a huge savings but every pound helps. I must admit this was one tough A-Arm to build with reduced weight with out sacraficing strenght.

I have currently put over 3,000 miles on a set with absolutely no issues. I actually drove them on a vehicle all last fall and winter.

Other benefits of this item are new MOOG ball joints and polyurethane bushings.

If anyone has any questions please ask. Thank you!
Ryan

Do you plan to test these with Sportline springs any time soon? Major concern is unwanted extra lowering.

To be honest we are playing with the height now. Our goal is when the A-Arms are installed with the factory springs the car will maintain the same height. This means when aftermarket springs are installed it will lower the vehicle the same is if the factory A-Arms are there.

Hope that helps,
Ryan

Re: UMI has a arms now, what do you guys think?

I think it's interesting that the a arm curves down and the spring pocket it level with it. I have the spohn a arms and there spring perch is lowered in the middle.

there is the issue with the spohn arms lowering the car, this may be why your perch is lowered, if its the first design. I ordered a set of the UMI arms, and i have sportlines, so i will find out what the do when the arms arrive

I talked to spohn about his a arms. He said the first design lowered the car. He said I have the updated perches so hopefully this isnt a problem. The UMI pieces look nice.

Re: UMI has a arms now, what do you guys think?

Ill have to look, but can you get them with GW style Del-A-Lum bushings instead of poly?
Poly + rotational parts = bad.
