What is that popping/clunk sound?
Ok, I've searched but I cannot find the exact answer...
I noticed this a while back, I was turning sharply and I heard a loud "pop/clunk" when turning to the left. I felt the sound came from the front passenger side area. My first thought is that it was probably the strut gone bad. But now it does it only when I floor it from a stop. If I'm on a roll and then floor it (as to pass a car) it wont pop. So I figured it was a messed up or broken motor mount bushing. When I floor it, it'll pop and after I reach a cruising speed, it'll pop again, as if something were popping back into place and I'll feel the whole car adjust back into place. I let my friend drive my car and had her floor it, but this time I heard the pop come more from the middle/front of the car. So now I'm thinking its a busted transmission mount. I tried flooring it and had my hand on the shifter, but I still felt the pop from the front/pedals and slightly on the shifter. I don't think its a strut anymore since I'll turn fast and sharply and no pop. and the car isn't performing any differently (nor is it leaning or unleveled). So I'm not sure if its a transmission mount, or a motor mount. When I bought the car, the guy had just replaced the transmission mount. The car has about 120k mi on it and all the suspension, minus the tires, is all pretty much stock. I would really appreciate your help and thanks for reading my long story...

I'd check the trans mount.

check the front springs as well. I was getting more of a snap from mine, but the car sat the same / was still level. I didn't know the spring had snapped untill I took out the A arms. I was replacing the ball joints.. they needed it anyway and I suspected the sound from them possibly.
Turned out the spring had rusted enough to where the thousands of miles on it fatigued it and broke off about 1/2 a coil. It was sitting lower because the broken part was still in there, just acting as a spacer.

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to check the trans mount since I get the feeling its coming from that..or the torque arm...

damn this thread is old! memories...yeah, it was the trans mount. Not hard at all to replace, just jack up the car and support the trans and remove trans crossmember and mount and then reverse...easy stuff. Sorry for not posting response...
