Front End Shimmy Help?!
Well today was my first day ever taking the 'maro out on the road!
Everything went awesome it was keeping cool around 160 degrees while cruisin but when I put car into neutral and try to slow down quickly but not insane, I get a bad shimmy or vibration which seems to feel as if it is coming from the steering/front end somewhere. Although, when I am downshifting rather than going to neutral it doesnt seem to do it. Could it be an idler arm?

Out of curiousity, when the car is gear and you are not accelerating does it vibrate or shimmy? Could this be a tranny mount? Personally I dont think it is the idler arm, although if it is worn maybe that could be making the situtation worse. What makes you have an idea that it is the idler arm? Strange guess... 1st thing that I would do is visually check all the parts, takes less then 10 minutes with a jack and jackstands...

It's probably brake rotors, you'd have to do a little more "process of deduction" while driving to be sure, but it sounds like brake rotors.
It could also be a centerlink or tierods, maybe the sleeves also. Those are the first things I would check if brake rotors have been ruled out.

Rotors is a good idea, but I would think that it would be espically noticable when not in neutral as well as in neutral...

Re: Front End Shimmy Help?!
What does being in neutral have to do with it? Does it really change the situation?
Or, is it really, just brakes/no brakes?
If the brakes make it do it, it needs rotors. Doesn't matter what they "look" like. One of the things I've seen happen to them is, the car sits in one place for along time, the pads stay against ONE place on the rotor; and it corrodes differently there, and you get those vibes. Because of the rotors (no matter what they "look" like).
Rotors are DIRT CHEAP. You can change both of em for less than ½ the price of a tank of gas. They're so cheeep, it's almost worth substituting some cheeep chinesium ones, and just see if it goes away. Then if that fixes it, go get some decent ones.
If the brakes are not involved (i.e., it does it even if you're just coasting) try swapping the tires front to rear.
