A little help with tires please.

New to the forum and have been reading ALOT! I have done a search for my question, but no luck so far. I recently got an 89 RS. I have P285/60R16's on it now. The front tires rub when turning the wheels left and right. I was told that the tires look too tall. I am trying to figure out the correct tire size so that I wont get the rubbing. Oh, the tires are BF Goodrich TA's that look brand new. Should be able to post pics soon. Just got rid of the notchback and put on the stock hatch. Still got a bit of work to do before she's done. Thanks in advance guys.

Re: A little help with tires please.

that tire is huge @ 29.5 inches tall. Factory tires range from 25.7 - 26 inches tall. 245/50-16 is the factory 16 inch size.

Thanks. Hopefully I can replace the tires. I really like the rims that are on her. Thanks again.

Re: A little help with tires please.

Actually, the rear doesn't look too bad. I have only driven the thing around my block once. (This car was given to me by one of my shift partners. We be cops.) I've put about $25 into her so far and am pretty happy with it. Gonna have to redo the interior because the notchback on it leaked and it sat for a year. But so far, haven't found alot of rust. As far as driving, no problems other than the tires rubbing on the inside wheel wells up front when turning. I will try to post some pics later today. Thanks again for the replies.

Re: A little help with tires please.

P285/60R16's

That's bigger than alot of TRUCKS!!!!

In fact, you can probably sell them to somebody with a truck and buy yourself a car size, for not too much difference in coin.

The exact section width that would work best is somewhat a function of your wheel width. Most likely, it'll be A WHOLE LOT LESS than 285.
