Strut Rod Dust Shield

OK so other than going to a junk yard and trying to get them there... does anyone know where I can get my hands on some new stock strut rod covers? When I changed my front struts on my car one of the shields got trashed and so I only have one... If I can get New ones that would be awesome!!

Check with GM. The P/N is as follows: Shield, strut 14019320

See if you can get 'em from GM! But according to some searches I was doing a week ago, tehy've been discontinued.

Someone suggested to use those accordian style covers that a lot of those jacked up trucks use... seemed like an okay enough idea. Just another option... but I dont know how well it would work.

Re: Strut Rod Dust Shield

Yeah I just went to gmpartsdirect and they show it as discontinued just like most parts for our cars.... Guess this is gonna be a junk yard item... I just wish the one didn't get trashed the way it did when I was replacing the struts....

Is it really that bad to run struts without those covers? I mean its a weekend warrior and It doesn't get driven in any bad weather... In fact its off the road until spring because I'm starting an engine swap....

Re: Strut Rod Dust Shield

Is it okay to change the oil without changing the filter?

Im sure you can get away with it, but it's probably not a Good Idea™.

See if you can find some, we're all going to end up replacing them at some point.

Re: Strut Rod Dust Shield

Discontinued doesn't always mean unavailable. Try GM (if necessary have the parts man search dealerships for you. I've found several 'discontinued' parts in that fashion).
