Re: biggest rear tire?

good luck man, i been tring to get info on this, all i get is info i 17's LOL, i had 15x8 with 255/60/15 that scrubed the fender, but the back space was wrong, got 245/60/15 on stock wheels now no issure at all, but im going bigger, the only reason i got 245's is they were free, going back to stock on front, here is a link to my post it may help alot, or none at all but worth reading

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...ize-stock.html

Re: biggest rear tire?

I have 295/35/19 on the back. They fit fine with only a small amount of the bfh mod. Just one little area that they rubbed. But I also don't have a fender lip. When I painted the car I cut it out and welded the outer and inner skins together. But I don't think it would rub there anyway...I can stick my fingers up there no problem.

Re: biggest rear tire?

325's wouldn't clear. - finding info on 15's is tough as they are really only used for straight line use now days. - If you search for 15" drag tires you'll find specs, including how to fit a 15x10. Drag tires will be spec in inches, but you can check tire manufacturer's websites to compare actual measurements to find what will fit. - several members have ran/run 15x10's and 295/50/15's.
search it out

Re: biggest rear tire?

I have a 92 with Crager's that have a 1/4 offset with 275/65/15's and I can still stick my hand back there and not hang up on anything but it does effect the cars handling, found that out many times lol

Re: biggest rear tire?

u can switch between inches and mm by multiplying or deviding by approx. 25.4. for example u want to run a 325/50r15s. take 325/25.4=12.8 inches. soo the tire you want would be approximately 12.8 inches +/- some wiggle room. then ur side wall is 50% or ur width. so to figure height multiply half tire width (the 50 in the tire reading)by 2 and add the rim diameter to figure theoretical height. soo... ((325/25.4)*.5)*2+(15in)=27.8in. tall.

for 245/60R15 ((245/25.4)*.6)*2+15=26.57 in tall.

hope that helps to convert metric tires into inches and vice versa for drag tires in inches.

Yeah That was me and I still don't have a answer.

From what I see a 10 wide is the biggest for wheels. Drag wheels in mind here without looking bad and 5.5bs is the golden number. As far as what realy matters the tread size. I still have no idea.

FACT is so many people on TGO don't understand all these tire sizes. Gives me a idea.

Re: biggest rear tire?

yeah, the radials are too undepandable, unless track is good. with the slick the car will 60ft 1.37 every pass. 1.40 is the worst it's had. im looking for 1.30's just a little more spray and i should do it.
i have a 28x10.5 on a 10" wheels.

Re: biggest rear tire?

so if i run a 15x8 wheel with 4in of back spacing, i should have no problem running 275/50r15's? would that back spacing be correct for my car? also what is the bolt patter on our cars? would this be correct?------> http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...10002_50690_-1

Re: biggest rear tire?

you want it to have a neutral backspace. so on a 15x8 you want 4.5 inch backspace. bolt pattern is 5 by 4 3/4

made it out last night. take back what i said about the radials, pulled the left front tire about 2 inchs on a 1.63 60ft. with a new best of 11.16@124.8. a few more tweaks it will be in the 10s. and i drove it to and from with the ac on.

i make as many as possible. only got 2 last night. would have gotten 3 but i didnt make it out there until around 7:30. it was a last minute idea, "hey lets go to the track" needed to try out the new suspension anyway.

Re: biggest rear tire?

honestly go to bradenton on a saturday and do there test session from 9-3. its the best testing you will ever do. i love going down there. track always works, shut down has a slight up hill grade dont have to use the brakes much to slow down. i went down there and did 10-12 passes with adjustments and tuning in between

Re: biggest rear tire?

bradenton is a 2 hr drive for me. i hate bracket racing , buti do do it the is good on them nights, but if is cool and the dew settles it goes away real fast. Gainesville is a total piece of crap for a track!!!!!! everyone thinks they have funny cars go down it that it is the best. Only good for the gator nationals.

Re: biggest rear tire?

i would do that in a heartbeat, but i drive it on the road still with alot of highway cruising. not ready to give up overdrive yet. also ive got lockup so im locking the converter in 2nd gear at the track. keeps the rpms down and it mph's like a ****.gets the et down as well. there are people running in the 9s with this trans, i should be able to go in the 10s with one.
