oem brake swap drum to disc
oem brake swap drum to disc
I have an 89 Iroc that I want to put rear disc brakes on. My question is, is it possible to simply unbolt the current factory drum setup from the rear end and bolt on a factory disc setup from a 3rd gen doner rear end without any modifications? Thanks in advance for any input offered, Gregor.

Yes and no. It will bolt right in, but you will also need to change the parking brake cables, proportioning vlave and possibly master cylinder and brake line from body to rearend depending on what year the rearend came from.

It will not bolt right in as the flanges are different. It can still be done if you drill the holes on the flange for the disk setup. There is a tech article on it if you do a search.

Oops I missread the question. I thought you were replacing the whole rearend. Then no what camarojustin said. Your best bet is to do a search on the brake board for what kind of swap you are planning on doing.
