strut towers

so yesterday when i took out the shock i could not get the shock tower mount thing off of the shock itself, now these are the stock shocks, any recommendations? i heard that you need to compress the shock before you can get the nut off the shock, is this true? any info could help im really stuck on this one

You can always use vice-grips on the strut shaft itself. Use a shop towel, or something, to protect the shaft itself...if you wanna save the strut.

Otherwise, don't worry about the strut....if you are replacing it anyways, go for it.

Or, you might need an air tool for the nut. Generally, it can take the nut off faster, than the strut shaft cam spin.
