Tire question.
Whats the widest tire I can fit on the rear of my 84 Camaro z28 without extending past the fender and without having to tub or worry about rubbing?

Re: Tire question.
I have an 84 z28 too. On the rear I have 275/60's on 15x8 rally wheel with 4 inch backspacing. I had to roll the inner wheel well lip to provide clearance otherwise they rubbed going over large bumps. With 4 1/2 inch backspacing there would be no clearance issues at all.
Hope this helps.

Could you please post a picture of your car from the rear to see how it looks with the 275/60's

Re: Tire question.
Here are some pictures. I used these wheels because I had them from another project. If I were buying new I would probably go larger diameter than 15 inch and definitely at least 4 1/2 inch backspacing. These do stick out a bit too far for my taste. Hope this helps.

Re: Tire question.
IF those are 275/60/15 on 15x8. Would I be able to fit wider tires wit 15x10 rims and not stick out a lot and still clear everything? Would 3" backspacing work on our cars without the tire rubbing anything? I want the widest possible without having to tub .

Re: Tire question.
I recall others on the board saying 15x10 with 5 or 5.5 inch backspacing will work but I personally don't know. 3" backspacing will cause the tire to stick out farther.

Re: Tire question.
I personally have 295/50/15 on mine, they fit in there snug and dont extend out past the fender so it passes here in PA. I had to do a little pounding in the inner fender well from the 20 years of gunk built up in there but nothing serious.

Re: Tire question.
I honestly couldnt tell you. My dad took the rims to work to get the tires put on, and he had one of the guys he works with do it. Neither he (My dad) or I know the backspacing. Dave (The guy that did it) would know, I could get my dad to find out if you'd like. Might take a day or two though.. :/

Re: Tire question.
To find out the backspacing just remove a wheel lay the nice down (side that faces the road and people can see) with the side the brakes hit up and place a flat item from one side of the rim to the other and measure from the middle of this item to the flat surface of the rim (where the lugnuts go thru ) and that should give you your back spacing.
