how to remove rear shocks

how to remove rear shocks

How do you get the rear shocks off of an 87 Camaro? The person I got this car from put new carpet in and I think he covered them.Where approx. are they in the car?

right behind the rear seats under the carpet almost to the top of the "hump" behind the seats, before the cargo area, you will have to remove the panels and pull back the carpet to get to the mounts

Here is a picture of the inside bolts. You need to remove these first then remove the bottom ones under the car. The one on the driver side was rusted so bad I had to cut it off.

You DONT have to take out the panels. All you have to do is flip the seat down and pull back the hatch carpet.

When I did mine last week the car didn't look like my picture, that pic was before I put it all back together. I had brand new carpet in mine & it was too far up under the panels to just pull it back. I had to remove some of the panels to get the carpet back to get to the bolts. But maybe the stock carpet is easier to pull back??

i just found that the carpet is tucked under the panels. You can pull it out easily enough, but putting it back under is a bit difficult.
