Spohn K-member + A-arms + Springs = HELL
So...people with spohn k-member and spohn a-arms please give me a hand here. This is absolute hell...i spent the whole day not even joking trying to install these springs. Tried about every method possible and its just too difficult. There is no motor/tranny in the car so the front end is light. Car comes off the jackstand. At this point im considing putting the motor in first just because there is no weight on the front of my car.
Method i'm using is a-arm not attached to anything spindle and strut are off the car and i'm jacking it up with the spring compressed to about 10 1/2" and i just cannot for the life of me get another bolt in the front bushing. I can actually get the rear bolt through the bushing and the front i can get it lined up with a screw driver but once i move it away to slide a bolt in whatever its off. Its almost like the a-arm wants to be completely downward with the ground to go in but if i lower the a-arm too much the spring pops out of the arm and i have to start over. This is very frustrating. Im tired, i worked on it all day by myself and i have to work a night shift in 4 hours...bleeding, cutup, and my back feels like it's 50 years old.
So those of you who have successfully accomplished this please lend me a hand.
Springs have NEVER given me a problem with a stock K-member/a-arm setup. Hell i never had to use a compressor when everything was stock and i lowered the car(motor and tranny were in the car at the time).
FYI i am using the correct compressor it goes inside of the coils. I am just afraid to tighten it down anymore risk of something letting go. Its a scary feeling with my face 2" from this spring as i work around it being compressed. I do have a chain tied around it as a precaution.
I would like to know mainly how compressed you guys had your coils. Like i said i have it to about 10 1/2" and i'm using eibach pro-kit.
Thanks
-Steve

I have heard that with the Spohn A Arms that it makes the spring sit lower therefore lowering the car even more... is this true??? I would like to know before going out and spending a pretty penny on these things.

How do you want him to answer you question, he doesn't even have an engine in the car yet
I had heard that too, and in fact, Spohn's 1st design did lower the car. When I was researching a arms, I called Spohn and asked. Spohn had redesigned the A arms a while ago so that your car would sit properly.

I put Spohn's Kmem and A-arms in last Spring. The car sat the same height after the swap as before..

Ok, fine he might not know cause the engine isnt in. Do you know about weight savings then? Before and after weights?

I am glad you got them in. I had the exact same problem. I ended up tightening them down more to get them in. Scared the **** out of me. There is so much power when they are compressed it nuts. I compressed them, bolted the ball joint up and put a jack under the bushing side and jacked it up. It's tough w/o a engine in it.
