dimensions of a steering brace
dimensions of a steering brace
i want to build my own steering brace (i know how to weld, and i have access to all sorts of metal in all sorts of shaped and sizes and would rather spend a half a day making one than to pay 200 bucks) but my only problem is that i dont know what the diameter of the piping is for the steering brace or if it is solid round stock or if it is indeed just piping.
thanks

Re: dimensions of a steering brace
I made mine out of 1-1/2" angle bracket and a grinder. Its really easy to make one. All they do is connect to the brackets of the front sway bar.

They aren't $200. They are about $75-85 shipped. But it's cool you are making them. The Tie rod sleeves are the part that link your inner and outer tie rods. They are what is used in the toe portion of the allignment. Not really more of performance aspect I'm aware of, just a heavier duty peice.

i just find that this is one of those parts that is so damn cheap, its really pointless to build your own. But making your own parts, is cool and i enjoy it.

well my father works at this shop that converts cars and trucks to run on propane and natural gas...or atleast used to and now they have all these machines and welding stands and a large amount of assorted metal that they wont use again so i kinda figure i might as well use some of it lol
