strut mount spacers
strut mount spacers
so i am lowering my car, and to help compensate i thought about ditching the strut mount retainers and using bolts and spacers to raise the strut mount off of the strut tower app 1". they are steel spacers, and the bolts are grade 5, they only had four grade 8 bolts at the hardware store and i needed six. is this a bad idea? should i go find some grade 8 bolts? the bolts are only 1/4" so they would fit in the strut mount holes, and i couldnt find 5/16" ID spacers or metric spacers, and 3/8" was too big. my camera broke so i dont have any pics. any ideas, thoughts, comments, concerns, all welcome. thanks

Re: strut mount spacers
You may not be interested as they're a bit pricey, but Spohn sells a strut mount that will accommodate a lowered car.

Re: strut mount spacers
I say don't use the grade 5 bolts. The bolts for your strut mounts are what prevents the struts from poking huge a holes in your hood.
Try finding the correct bolts/spacers/nuts at another hardware store, or I think Spohn even sells the bolts and nuts required for the strut mounts.

Re: strut mount spacers
spohn sells new strut mount retainers, studs welded to a bracket. the point is i already spent a hundred something on kyb strut mounts a long time ago and they sat, and if i can safely put spacers under them tohave the strut bolt in at closer to the correct height, i want to.
