Eibach Sportline Kit?
I think that i want these sprigs b/c i think they will really help me handle from the stock ones. But it says it lowers vehicle 1.75" to 2.25"! Now can i make it lower it 1.85" or what ever or does it do what it wants as far as how much it will lower my vehicle? I think that it it lowers it 2.25" that wont look very good what do you guys think? Dose anyone have these springs if so could you show some picks!
thanks

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
It all depends on how worn out the springs are that are in your car now. If you have stock springs from 1990 chances are they are actually sagging some so it most likely will not drop the car 2.25"

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
I would just go with the Pro Kit unless you want your car really low for whatever reason.
My friend got the sportlines for his 2001 trans am along with kyb agx shocks and the car was stiff as a rock, terrible ride quality. And when we tried launching it, it would not hook up at all, the tires just spun, they give very little weight transfer.
I got the Pro-Kit and the tires line up good with the wheel wells and you can tell its lowered and looks good, plus it handles wayyyyyy better then stock [my car had the comfort suspension or w.e from the factory and my shocks and struts were totally shot, I also got KYB AGX shocks/struts]

Ive heard that the Hotchkis springs were way better then any Eibachs, id look into those. They lower your car 1in like the Pro-Kit i think.

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
dont go with the sportlines, the rear springs are way too short/soft. I had them and hated them
go with the prokit, or hotchkis

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
wait your sticking with 15" tires/rims aren't you? They will just hold your car back
Get rid of them--16"+ and do it right
Back to the springs---another vote for the Eibach Pro kit---I had a Intrax kit before--2" front--1.6 rear. AWFUL!!!!
I was hitting everything
Car looked stupid being that low too.
Eibachs were a lot better then the stock WS6 springs. The car even RIDES better (takes bumps better now) While still allwing me to throw it into a curve at a good speed.

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
I had sportlines on the car and cut a loop off of them in a fit of anger to get em in late one night.... car sat on the bump stops and the headers scraped on the slightest bump

Right now i have sportlines in the rear and some grey springs in the front i think hotchkiss... sits so beatiful... rides nice too

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
The lowest springs wont always perform the best on the track, most of the really low ones are just for that "slammed" look and not performance.

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
Moog 5665/5662's... linear front and rear. Cut to fit, the more you cut, the stiffer and lower they become.
Pro-kit...
Hotchkiss...
Any of these are good choices. Moog also makes a 5664 spring that's even stiffer than the 5662's.

Well i see that the moog 5662's look like their the stiffest from this chart so can you tell me if their good numbers or not? Then how are these compared to the Eibach Pro-kit and the hotchkis kit?
thanks

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
I think that chart has the 5662 and 5664's switched. A Look at the wire diameter for both should confirm this. I believe the 5662's are .75 and the 5664's are .7625. I'd use the 5662's, cut a half coil to begin with. That should put you at about a 700lb rate, which is comparable to the pro-kit.

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
not to but in and hijack, but i have an 85 iroc and i would like to lower it about 1.25-1.5 inches in the front and .5-.75 inches in the rear.
as far as performance vs comfort, performance is the top priority.
where should i go from here.
the iroc has an already lower stance and stiffer springs than the standard camaro, so i wouldnt want to take a step back performance wise
thanks for any help

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
Hey Red, looks like front replacement for your IROC would be MOOG #5662 which are kind of stiff, you could come down in spring rate a bit with #5660 and then trim to fit the height you want. This would then raise the spring rate close to what you have know. I'm going to do this soon on my 88 Bird but still researching how much spring rate increases with every 1" of height that's trimmed on the spring. Later.

Re: Eibach Sportline Kit?
Well the last thing I want is to decrease my spring rate.
ideally, i would like springs that are stiffer and shorter to keep my ride height about 1.25-1.5 inches in the front and .5-.75 inches in the rear than the stock iroc, which is already slightly lower than the standard camaro.
as for cutting springs, i dont have a rotary grinder, or any other suitable tools beyond basic hand tools for that matter.
i have about a million wrenches and socket sets, but if i was gonna cut a spring, it would be with a hack saw lol...
i suppose a machine shop could do that for me though
anyway, does anyone know the standard spring rates for an 85 IROC camaro?
i can seem to find them anywhere.
i found on federal mogul once that the front rate was in the 785 range and the rears were in the 140 range but were variable rate. it didnt list a final rate, or a rate of change of spring rate, so it is very unhelpful.
