this maybe simple , or not . can i swap a entire steering column from an 89rs manual tranny into a 88 s/c auto tranny ? both are tilt , cruise etc. . 88 has the " loose tooth syndrome " and a bad ign. switch cylinder . the 89 is nice and tight with a good ign. switch . the 89 also had vats that i could live without . i'm sure it will fit , but concerned about starting problems . how about it James C , with your vast 3rd gen knowledge you should know . does anyone know ??? please tell me it can be done . thanks .

yes the column will fit it will bolt right up the vats system is only a wire that you don't have to hook up cause your 88 don't have it. the only thing is the wheel lock for the key is a diff setup. but if you don't mind that then you should be ok.

 

well i felt pretty sure it would work . i guess i just needed someone else to assure me . just got registerd & ins. this morning , can start the swap feeling good about it . thanks ....
