Thump in front end at low speeds

I noticed when i was sitting in traffic doing anywhere from 5 to 25 MPH that there is a thump in the front end constantly like theres a rock in one of the front tires or a bubble or something.i have looked at them while driving in a parking lot and both front tires drive straight and don't wobble. So what should I replace? BTW the tires have about 35% tread left on the front and the back tires are brand new.

Have you taken it to a good tire / front end shop? Could be tires, a rim or something else?

Not yet. its not really bad but it is pretty annoying in traffic or going through parking lots. i suppose i could go to a shop but i don't really think they would find anything wrong because its not that bad.

Re: Thump in front end at low speeds

Have you checked brakes and steering items? I.E. jack up front end, grab tire and try to turn side-to-side and up-and-down. See if it's a ball joint, or something in the steering. Otherwise, on my Grand Prix if I hit a bump, I have a rattle in the front from the brake pads in the caliper. I know what the problem is, but have not found a way to fix it yet. I changed the anti-rattle clips and now it's changed from a rattle to a squeek.

Aside from that, the only other thing I can think of might be bearings.

Something that might change all those possibilities is whether or not you can feel the thump in the steering wheel or not?

Re: Thump in front end at low speeds

i can't really feel it in the steering wheel. I just always noticed the car kinda shakes and moves around alot at low speeds and makes a constant thump like a rock in the tire. i tried shaking my tires back and forth with my hands with the car on the ground but not jacked up.They didn't wiggle or anything unusual.

Re: Thump in front end at low speeds

Low speeds when you turn the wheel, go over speed bumps, etc. I have one just like that. I've figured out that it's the vacuum reservoir, which has a broken mount, flopping around in the fender well. It makes a dull thump every time it hits the inside of the fender, support, or battery tray. Since everything up front is basically brand new and pretty tight, it took me forever to figure out what it was, now I just need to replace the darn thing. Might be unrelated, but I thought I'd throw it out there...
