need help on lowering springs
ok so i have a 88 camaro v6 and i want to get lowering springs on it and i was thinking of getting eibach sportline lowering springs that give it a 1.6" front amd 1.3" back but my question was that what would happen if i put v8 lowering springs on my v6 will it even lower it ,too stiff or be the same as v6 lowering springs??

Re: need help on lowering springs
Taking a guess, would think that with the V6 it
would sit slightly higher and be slightly stiffer
in the front with the 100 or so lbs less wieght
you have.
The rear would not make any difference

you'll be fine, just be sure your shocks are in good shape, so you dont slam your bump stops all the time...

Re: need help on lowering springs
I have the same springs on my 87 camaro. I think it isn't lower enough. I was really disappoint. But I won them on cardomain so I can't complain.

Re: need help on lowering springs
wow thats not low at all that is as low as mine is right now and its stock... i might just cut them but i would much rather get eibachs.
----------
i really dont want to have any wheel gap so i was thinking that the sportlines would be the best way to go or else just cut them

Re: need help on lowering springs
I've got the Eiback pro in the rear and dropped it about
an 1 1/2", no gap.
Running Morrison coilovers in the front so can't help there.
Can set it anywhere I want.
Have it tucked about 3/4" into fender.
Looks so much cleaner when no gap.
Remember dropping the rear your LCAs angle has to be
addressed as to brackets if any kind of power in mind or
handling for that matter.

i dont wanna sound stupid but LCA's is an abbreviation for what and what do you think i should do cut them or go with sportlines. as you can see "Rock_Stars_Bars" posted pictures of his camaro with sportlines and its as low as mine is right now. Then again he only has the chin ground effect.
----------
maybe they are bootleg sportlines it is not low at all. there is a difference between the after but it is not that low

Re: need help on lowering springs
Your stock old springs usually are sagged with age so u don't really get the full drop the new lowering springs say. You can always trim your new ones to get the height u want, just go a little at a time cause when they're cut that's it. Later.

LCA stands for lower control arm. Its the two U shaped arms that go from th eaxle to a mount moint on the chassis in front of the axle. you need brackets that relocate the mount point on the rear end to keep the arm in parralel with the road. when you lower the car they will not be parralel anymore and can/will cause negative handleing and traction issues.
you can get them from several of the board sponsors for aroun $80-100
might want to upgrade to tubular lca's at the same time.

Re: need help on lowering springs
LCA Brackets installed.
With the 1 1/2 rear drop lower hole brought it back to
horizontal, slightly higher front mounting.
Also when lowering any car, always check your shock
travel as to compression, worst case senario, hitting speed bump at speed, full of fuel and buddies in the car.
Also may need to trim bump stops.
When playing with suspension alterations, one change affects
other components.

Re: need help on lowering springs
For a daily driver and if money tight, would'nt worry
about it.
All depends on plans for the car.
If planning on another car, save the money and put it
in that one.
