Should I weld them in now, or take care of all the rust first?
Ok I have a set of sphon SFCs that I want to install badly, but there is a lot of rust on that body seam where the floor pan and rockers are spot welded together. This car is a daily driver, and soon to be everyday commuter car. So should I take care of the rust or just install them?
If I start to take care of the rust, I am going to be at it for a long time, and some cutting and welding of new pieces will be in order.
What would you do?

Do it right (i.e. don't hurry the job): Fix the rust.

fix the rust first. im in the same predicament as u but i have alot more i want to do and this is gona take a couple of weeks. got the same rust on the rocker but its rusted fully through and is about the length of my arm shoulder to fingertips on both sides....idk how the car is still together.
if u weld the SFC in now u'll just be wasting time to a already weaker car. do it once and do it right

well guys, I put teh car up on stands as high as I could safely go. First time I was under the car with so much room!! It was nice to be able to roll around under htere with the creeper without hitting everything..anyway...
blackbird my rust on that rocker-floorpan seam is bad, really bad. I actually found a new spot were there is about a 4-5inch long and 2 inch wide holw on hte back side of where the fender bolts the the bottom of the car.
My wheel well in the back has HORRIBLE rust.
Thank you Mr. screwdriver!! I started stabbing every suspicious spot, and found most of my cancer I didnt know I had.
Thanks guys all of you are right, do it the right way.

I feel your pain I spent 2 weeks this summer fixing all the rot on the passanger side of my car. The idiot that had it before me didn't clean up after he had the heater blow up. Definetly a case where you have to fix before you mod.
