seeking input on improving turning

Ok, so I have a pretty much stock '87 Z-28. My car has a quirk I'd like to fix. When I turn the wheel all the way in one direction, the car will turn smoothly for the first 3/4 of the wheel turn but eventually the tires start to skid? At least it feels and sounds like skidding. Why is it doing that? I use my car as a daily driver and when Im in parking lots, it can be a pain trying to turn into parking spots. I know these cars arent known for being tight turners, but anything would help.

Re: seeking input on improving turning

That last portion of turn ratio to lock renders the ackerman angles to fail and cause a toe-in condition. This makes the tires fight eachother. Skinnier tires will help. It is an inherent defect built in to the stock geometry.
