Re: Pics of 28" Tires

I have always ran 28 inch tires on my 91, I always liked how they fill up the wheelwell more than 26 inch tires. I will try to dig up some pics, but most of my digital pics disapeared when my computer crashed, but I will see if I can find some.

Re: Pics of 28" Tires

I just wondered if he thought I meant 28" rims lol. I just didnt know if they would look too stuffed in the back and if itd look too raked with 2" more in the back or if id have to do 28"s in the fron too. 28"s would let me drop the car on the tire more without killing my much needed ground clearence.

And hey, there are those Monster truck f-bodys, you never know.

245-50-16 is a metric tire size. the bfg's on my truck say 31x10.5-15 so i would call them 31 inch tires

Well for one, its a Camaro, so he should need truck tire sizes, and 2 Ive never had to buy anything in drag radials that big so all tires to me for a car are something like 275-40-17 Not 28" tire whatever.

Slicks are sized in inches

If you want metric, go with radials. This is not an oddity, this is how it works

See for yourself

he's right, grab a summit catalog and look at racing slicks. its the overall diameter of the wheel.

Re: Pics of 28" Tires

so i see that you are using 15" wheels and i was wondering if any of you guys were running 98 and newer rear disc brakes. The reason i ask is that i had to put my 16" iroc wheels on to clear those big a$$ brakes but i was using old steel wheels before and not weld drag stars ?????????????????

I agree that he is probably a kid and did not know better, and that is fine. I will now take it easy on the young fella, but I believe the reason he got such so much grief is it was he that posted the smarta** coment, but I am sure he is not the only person to get caught putting there foot in their mouth! Been there, done that!

Re: Pics of 28" Tires

Its not a crazy question to ask. I was thinking the same thing.

I run 26" tall Hoosier QTP's with 3.73 gear and a th350 trans. I had thought about getting some 28" tall tires for the street to lower my rpm's at highway speed.

I was thinking about putting some of these on the rear end of my car too, but my question is what about my speedo and gauges? will I need to change speedo gearing or what?

275/60/R15 radial tires.

That's with brand new stock replacement suspension (moog cc635 in rear, moog 5664 in front).

Gives a VERY NICE aggressive rake stance.
