UMI Subframe Connectors

I was thinking about purchasing the subframe connectors that UMI Performance sells for our cars but had a question. Will these be able to be welded on without any exhaust modifications or any modfications at all? I have the Hooker 2460's with the matching y pipe on my car and just wasn't sure if it is going to need to be changed or not.

Re: UMI Subframe Connectors

i have them on my car, but I don't have exhaust...sooo....all i know is they claim it will work with stock/stock type exhaust. the one bar on the passengers side that stems off from the main subframe connector has a bend in it to clear the exhaust pipe.

Re: UMI Subframe Connectors

Hello
Thanks for the question! Are the headers you are using LT's or shorties? Leave me know and I will be able to better assist you. Below is link showing what clearance you will have. If that Helps.
Thanks
Brad

Re: UMI Subframe Connectors

I got these on my car with a 3" Y-pipe. They are VERY close but not hitting. I will have to put some header wrap or hi-temp rubber between the Y and SFC. Also to weld them on correctly you HAVE TO remove the Y, you cant get a decent weld with the Y on the car. Otherwise they are awesome easy install and finished product is amazing! Same as all UMI products.

They are the Hooker 2460 shorty headers.

Re: UMI Subframe Connectors

the optional weld in support, the part that runs over the Y pipe didn't clear my 3" Edelbrock y pipe by at least 5/8". i intially installed withought the brace. and some time later i ended up modifying that brace to be longer and at a different angle, and welded it farther back toward the cat where there was more room to tuck it.

you need to drop the exhaust to weld them in, make sure that the brace clears the exhaust before you weld!!

besides that issue, the SFC's work awseome and look great. the jack stands i use have a U shaped support, and it cradles the SFC's and keeps the car from sliding off, while lifting the car!!

Hello
You should be fine with the clearance with the sub-frame connectors as long as there are no cats on the Y pipe! If you have any other questions leave me know and I will be glad to help!
Thanks
