How much does the road noise increase? Barley noticeable, or will the volume have to go sky high on the radio? Everything is already tubular (K, LCA's, panhard setup, TQ arm, UCA's) and poly everything.

I'm talking about the road noise everyone talks about in relation to taking the TQ arm off the tans.

Oh forgot to mention SFC's.

Just curious if the noise will increase much over what's there now with all the other modifications.

 

in my case i didnt notice any noise change, just vibrations, and i've taken care of most of them, , i had to raise the trans mount up abit, install a smaller D/S to stop the rubbing, and poof..... no more vibrations, last night was the first time in months i drove my car and it wasn't shaking, never noticed any noise though

 

I noticed a modest increase in road noise/feel after my torque arm install (Spohn early version) but mine also has the rod end, not the poly bushing. You can't tell it now with the current exhaust setup though.

 

Got a stock nose on the UMI TQ arm, so I am looking at the BMR unit that retains the stock style mount.

OK, also ordered a set of your LCARLB's !

I am interested in relocating the TQ arm still, but as far as I can tell they are all made for the V8's. The car I am installing them on is a customer's 1993 3.4l with a 4l60 (non-e). A friend has one installed on his '97 and had to cut the trans mounting tab and relocate it to the other side of the tube (BMR) That's why I was thinking of using the BMR - he already knows what needs to be done and I have a welder, CNC machines, and powdercoating equipment so the modification can be done, but it would be nice to know that you guys had them already made for my particular setup to streamline the install. Melody is the one who returned my email and then I replied to about the LCARLB.

Also if you could tell me if the T/A relocation is the same situation as the '93 for my '90? Is it a bolt on, or will it also need to be modified to fit the v6 transmission?

PS: Still haven't seen a definative answer on the road noise. The customer is concerned about it...

 

The road noise should not be an issue. The relocation bracket will have to be modified to work with the v6 tranny. When using urethane mounts you will feel a little more road noise due to the urethane not absorbing the vibrations like rubber does. For most people this is not an issue. Hope that helps.

While yes the poly will transfer more noise/vibration, but it would be my understanding that any road noise that travels through the T/A would be helped dampened by the transmission mounts in a stock configuration. When mounting the relocation, the secondary absorption that would be taken up by the transmission mounts will be translated more readily to the cabin because the relocation bracket is mounted solid to the body. I myself have no problem with road noise (just wish I could get the pass side window noise to stop on the highway lol), but the customer is very specific in his concerns for the extra road noise and I really don't want to eat a $250 some-odd-dollar piece of equipment because I wanted him to shave another fraction of a second from his short time.

And BTW, some of your parts are also installed on his car as I am not partial to either vendor (panhard relocation and bar) . I would have to look again to see what he brought me for the subframe connectors.

This should be an interesting v6 when finished, with the aluminum heads and custom cam designed by me, and products from you guys (and a PA Racing tubular front end), I will disappointed with less than mid/low 13's.
