Raise front suspension?
What would be the easiest way to raise the front of my car about 2 inches? It sits too low in the front for what I like so about 2 inches or so would be better. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Raise front suspension?
Those would help, but your suspension would be quite rough in the front.
Are you simply trying to avoid bottoming out on potholes, etc or is there a different motivation for this?
You could put a thicker spring isolator on top of the spring?

Re: Raise front suspension?
uh... go up? That's about two inches higher than mine, and the only problem I have is the airdam in some places. Why are you wanting to go up that much? You ralley cross the car or something?

Re: Raise front suspension?
I just don't like how the front is so low. I know the back of the car sits kinda high but I like how it is, just wanting to level it out a little bit. I just wanted suggestions to raise the front. My car is just a normal day driver and I'm sick of scraping the front spoiler and air dam on everything.

Re: Raise front suspension?
My car is a daily driver too (about 17.5 k miles a year) amd it's about 2 inch lower in the front and probably four in the back than yours. I don't consider mine to be too low and dragging the air dam doesn't bother me.
I wasn't trying to be offensive, I was just wondering why you'd want the car to sit that high. Two inches in the front, and it'll look like a Blazer.
But, you can probably use new isolators and the IROC springs to get it up some. Not sure how much, but more than stock by at least an inch I'd guess with your lighter V6 (compared to the V8s) and the extra thickness of the new isolators.

Ok I will probably try those moog springs out and see how it goes from there. Thanks for suggestions guys.

Re: Raise front suspension?
If you wish to raise the car 2", the Moog replacements, even with new isolators, may disappoint. With them in place, my car sits at 26 5/8" which is lower than stock ride height. (I've read that this latter is 27 1/2".) At any rate, front spring replacement is a PITA--and dangerous--so you might consider some research on springs before jumping into anything.

Alright, I might just take the rear shocks out and have them cut a little bit and that should raise the front up a little. Thanks guys

Cutting the rear shocks will lift the front of the car? Am I missing something here? You mean cut the springs?

Re: Raise front suspension?
Just one question, did you start to scrape the front spoiler after you raised the back end, if so it's probably the rake your car has. Try the V8 Moog springs though, that should bring up your front end some. Later.

Oops my bad, I meant the springs. Well the car was like this when I got it, I just got the car a month ago. I think it was being setup to be a drag car or something but they didn't have the cash to finish it.

Re: Raise front suspension?
Drop the rear some, and this will cause some "tilt" and bring the front spoiler up some, just not by 2", if that is what were wanting.

Just enough to make it not tear up my spoiler and bring the front up some. I think it will be good. Thanks.

Got pics of rims redone and mounted. Window tint is also done, 5% on sides, rear window is still to be done.

I think it looks like a clean car.
but with the rear up that high it looks like you stomped the brakes from 90 and it got stuck like that.

Re: Raise front suspension?
Shouldn't be too hard. The rear springs are pretty easy to get out. I'd start with a half coil if it were me. Just don't use a blow torch and don't heat the spring.

How was the rear raised? Air shocks, spacers, or new springs?
Check that out before you cut anything.

are you gonna get an adjustable panhard bar, LCARB's, and adjustable lower control arms? or are you just gonna wing it lol i dont think if you dropped your car maybe a a half to a full inch you would really need to change everything except your panhard bar. am i wrong? will it hurt your car THAT bad to lower it an inch and not change your LCARB's? i know if you dropped it likke 3" then the rear tire would prolly hit the rear of the wheel well, but only an inch? how bad would that be?

yeah stephen i kinda thought about that, it has to have some sort of aftermarket (whether its bought, or self-made) because i bet thats at least 2-3" higher in the rear.

Re: Raise front suspension?
I think there is gas shocks in the rear that might be maxed out with some bigger springs/coils but I dont know, I really havent had time to take things apart yet lol.
The guy I got the car from told me what they did but I cant remember exactly what he said he did. He just told me that him and his dad were setting the car up to be a drag car so thats why the rear end was rasied up.

Re: Raise front suspension?
That rear end is sitting higher than factory and is not safe.
listen and please trust what I am saying to you, I am a specialist in suspension geometry. Somebody put that car together wrong and possibly not have the springs seated correctly....or replaced the factory springs in the rear with something not intended for that car.... or someone installed air shocks and they are completely inflated lifting the car that high.
Can you post one or two detailed pictures of the rear of the car underneath so I can take a look for you? You are a V6 car, that is a line of crap somebody telling you that car was set up for drag racing or something, somebody did something wrong to that car. I also know V6 cars, mine was one (as built of a 3rd gen Camaro you will ever see). I know the car's weigh and ride characteristics. You have massive roll induced oversteer and will not be safe at freeway speeds in any swevre emegency.

Re: Raise front suspension?
Not 100% sure here...But they don't look seated correctly (seated fully, but not the correct coil to fit the seat) so guess is, those aren't 3rd gen springs.
I doubt if a V8 spring on the front of a V6 car, would even push the car up that high as that rear end is.
How stiff does the back ride?

Yeap, Stephen is correct.
Those are not factory pigtail end springs. Factry springs reduce diameter in the last coil and look like they sound...a pigtail last coil around the smaller diameter axle mount spring receiver.

Re: Raise front suspension?
This is how they should look.
Yours like they are straight coils, no pigtail on one end. Scary to think of them staying in place correctly. If they were to move & unpset the balance ot the car, it could become very unpredictable & become junkyard material!
Take those off, before you kill yourself or somebody else.

Re: Raise front suspension?
Definitely useless for a car "supposedly" being built for drag racing. Those wouldn't have helped one bit. So stiff, the rear end couldn't have squatted any and the weight transferred correctly.

Those def. look like 1/2 ton fronts or maybe 3/4 ton, I imagine they ride rougher than my old '67 Ford truck. Later.

I've got a pair from my car if you don't want to buy new stock replacements from Advance or something.

Re: Raise front suspension?
Yeah mine sets up about as high as yours dave, but it is because I have airshocks installed and it only sets that high when the shocks are fully infalted. It definately changes the way the car handles. I assume my air shocks where installed to accomadate for bigger rear wheels.
