Dumb lug nut question - IROC wheels
Dumb lug nut question - IROC wheels
Hey guys, I did a search. I'm sure the answer is out there but I didn't find it. Sorry for what is surely a repeat question.
I'm trying to get the right lug nuts to put my 16" IROC wheels on my 88 non-IROC camaro. I know from the part store guy that the threads "should be" M12 - 1.5.
I don't want the kind that you put the little covers on, I just want a one piece lug nut, probably Chrome. I want the nuts to cover the studs, I don't want the studs sticking through.
What I don't know is what is the correct type of lug nut? Looking at the wheels, they have a taper, so I am thinking conical. Can someone confirm this?
Looking at summit, there are two possible angles (60 degrees & 45 degrees I think) to the conical style, then there is conical, conical with shank, and conical with bulge. Which is correct?
Thanks for the help. Also what does the term "acorn" mean for lug nuts?

Re: Dumb lug nut question - IROC wheels
I dunno what the angle is, and I wasn't aware that there were multiple choices there. The acorn refers to the shape of the lug nut. conical with shank is meant for rims that have a bigger opening, the shank locates the wheel. conical with bulge means the hex is smaller than the conical seat.
the factory ones are conical, with a bulge, more or less. So you'd want closed ens lugnuts with a conical bulge in the right thread(you mentioned above).
