Interested in Advice - 1988 GTA
I'm in the process of removing quite a bit from the rear end of the car so that I can replace the fuel pump (stupid in tank design). This got me thinking that while I have things apart, I should really start making some of the upgrades I need to do. I'm rebuilding the motor and it's now going to be a 383 stroker. Anyone have good advice for suspension and other upgrades I should be making? I've only ever worked on motors and the rest of the car has been handled by others.
To my knowledge, everything, besides the motor work I'm doing, on the car is stock...I realize I have a lot of work ahead of me, I just want to formulate the best plan from those that know more than me and/or have been through this and can pass along lessons learned. Thanks!

Now is a good time to replace sway bar bushings and end links, also shocks and springs, and if using lowering springs you'll need an adjustable panhard bar. That's really all there is under there, besides rear brakes. But - all of these things can be done later as well - dropping an axle only takes about 30 minutes in these cars.
Might want to think exhaust if you have extra cash to spend, as the stock exhaust has to come out to get to that tank. I disconnected mine at the cat and wiggled it out to get to my tank when I did mine. On the other car I did, we had to cut out the exhaust as it was rusted tight and we couldn't get the tank out.

maybe consider converting to an external fuel pump. that way you dont have to drop the tank again.
