i was wondering what people are running in the Third gen for better weight transfer like a good drag set up. i got an 83 base modle swaped for a 2.8L to a 327 5speed with posi 3.42's and i got stock 6 cylinder springs all around with 8 cylinder "rated" shocks. i wanna make a nice cheap set up for street racing nothing thats gunna break the bank. now i was thinking maybe just putting 8 cylinder springs in the front and leaving the 6cylinder ones in the back. might be pretty good for a nice weight transfer to the rear. or i was just gunna get the trick springs for the rear,idk. i could use some help. idk but it just seems like third gens dont hook up that good. can some one thow some ideas at me, or let me know how to get my chevy to start eattig some pony"s. thanks.

 

I ran V6 springs in the front for a few years before finally installing some Moroso trick springs. The V6 spring has a lighter spring rate so it will compress more. When you launch, it has more stored energy to lift the car than a stiffer V8 spring.

Rear springs just need to be heavy enough to hold the vehicle up. Too stiff a rear spring and the back end won't squat.

The best way to control weight transfer is with good adjustable shocks. Front struts can be inexpensive 90/10 Lakewood or adjustable Koni SPA1 drag struts. Rear 3 way adjustable set of 50/50 is a good starting point.

Get an adjustable torque arm, tubular LCA and relocation brackets.

Slicks. Lots of HP and all the suspension mods still won't help if you can't get the power to the ground.
