sensor on top of gear box?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but while I was inspecting under the hood of my 1984 Berlinetta I noticed a sensor or something on top of the steering gear box with 2 wires snipped off. What is this sensor for and where in the harness would these wires tie into?

Re: sensor on top of gear box?

Probably a temperature sensor. I doubt it would be a pressure sensor. You would know if you lost hydraulic pressure for the steering.
