Which Subframe connectors?

I need advice on which subframe connectors to purchase and which ones to avoid. I am new to the 3rd gen camaro world and there is much more selection that I am used to

Investigating, it seems SummitRacing sells connectors from as low as $99 up to $250. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CEE-3046/

Spohn connectors run at $199

I will be welding them to the frame (even if they are bolt-on style). So what is the real difference? Or is it just brand name vs generic? Can I get a recommendation of what to look for and what to avoid?

I went with the Spohn tube type when they first came out over the boxed type. Fit is really tight and the car is better now then it left the show room.

I went with this company below.. They mainly do convertibles, however, most of their parts are for all f-bodies.. These are the 2 piece connectors, instead of the 3 piece which IMO is not necessary...

They work great....

Re: Which Subframe connectors?

Hello,

We offer a nice set that is very popular- www.umiperformance.com/2400 they can also be purchased through Summit Racing which you posted a link too.

I have never used the Competition Engineering ones but I have heard they require modification to install them? Someone else may be able confirm that.

If you have any questions please ask. Thank you!
Ryan

Hello, i would like to offer you another option. We have two different versions of our weld in connectors. One is designed for factory style exhaust the other for full length headers and non factory exhaust. Here is a link to our site. Our products are also available thru Summit Racing as well as Jegs. If you have any questions please give me a call.

Re: Which Subframe connectors?

i have nothing against UMI, BMR, or Spohn..... however the chassis shop i took my car to went with a S&W racecars subframe kit. lots of points of connection, weded and bolted. driveshaft loop included.. requires the use of thier S&W tq. arm too, so be ware of that. i love my setup now..

for photos and info.. check my post below at the link :

Re: Which Subframe connectors?

I ended up with a square tube set of bolt/weld on no floor mod connectors from Hotchkis. I definatly felt the difference in handling right away, with no regrets about my purchase. Seems the rest of my stuff is currently UMI though.
