tokico struts and shocks

hi guys i'm curious about the general consensus involving those who have previously owned or currently own an f-body with tokicos on the front and rear. (hps or illuminas btw)

the price for these is pretty damned good obviously (my main attraction).

please don't swamp this thread with buy konis and buy bilsteins, i'm aware they are better and i'm aware if i were going for an all out handling car that i would rather have koni yellows on mine, but i want the best strut/shock for my money (not including these two) and a spring package.

so thoughts on aftermarket drops springs would be great too, anything other than eibachs since they are a little to stiff for my preference.

Ground Control Weight Jacks make for a good choice for the springs, since you get the "free" adjustability of ride height afterwards (adjust the ride height with just a wrench or two, instead of spending more $ to change it) and if you decide they are either too soft or too stiff, new springs are only like $59 (each not pair, I believe)

Re: tokico struts and shocks

I am running eibach pro spings and tokico shocks. I can honestly say they were the best upgrade I have made so far. Car is not too stiff but plants well when I push it into the corners. Obviously I have ridden in cars with better shocks (bilstein) and I can tell a difference over my mine but for a daily driver with the happy run down winding roads...can't ask for more than what I have installed.

I've got the Illumina adjustables with Sportline springs and the ride is comfortable anywhere but really bad roads. Handles great on curvy roads and on/off ramps can be taken at 15+ over posted speeds.

Re: tokico struts and shocks

i definetly like the idea of the gc springs. Are the springs sold for the front, realy a progressive rate spring? Or is that just a general picture, thanks again stephen.

thanks for the review on the tokico's guy keep them coming, i definetly like what i hear.

Those are THE springs & THE adjusters that are on my car right now.

Not sure why you think those springs are a progressive rate, since all the coils are equal distance in the pic. Not sure if GC even sells progressive rate springs, but they might. And I'm pretty sure you can use other springs from other sources. I know the ones they sell are made by Eibach for them.

GC isn't the only space that sells that kind of setup, just the ones I used.

Re: tokico struts and shocks

oops was kind of in a hurry when i posted that comment (at school during my business class). For some reason i saw the top of the spring where it tapers down and just figured it was progressive.

i definetly like the idea of altering the right height without going coil over though thanks.

The springs in that pic that "taper down" are the rears, anyway.

Re: tokico struts and shocks

Ive got the GC set up pictured with Tokico lumis.I really like the combo. The springs are'nt that much stiffer than the orginals.Plus you have the adjustablity.Although i do have the tokicos on soft settings. The ride is almost perfect for me.

Re: tokico struts and shocks

I have the Illuminas with WS6 springs, 34/24 sway bars and a set of UMI SFCs. A bit on the stiff side, but I like the ride they give me.
