These stiff enough?

I'm thinking about buying a 2 sets of these to replace my current springs.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOG-5610/

The moog spring has a rate of 424 lbs./in.
These stiff enough to give me good cornering and weight transfer to plant the *** of the car? I'm looking for good weight transfer at the 1/4 mile track and stiff enough to corner nicely in the twistys.

If these wont do the job then what is an all around good spring for dual purpose?

Thanks, Chas

Re: These stiff enough?

nope. they are front springs. the rear springs neck down at the bottom where they fit on the rear. only springs that fit our cars are stock replacement moog 5665s. they have a 107lb rate and will make your car sit abou 1/2" higher than it was when it came out of the assembly plant.

your car even if it had 1000lb front springs would never need more than 175-225lb rear springs and that would be for autoX racing. the only lowering spring that has a better rate than stock is the Eibach prokit, 1" lower with 100-160lb progressive rate. you dnt have any idea what your doing with the suspension if u pick out those springs and think they will fit the rear.

your only options are moog 5665s, custom springs, or pre made kits from summit, ST, eibach, intrax, hotchkins, and BMR.

Re: These stiff enough?

stock iroc fronts are around 550 so that would be a little too soft for the twistys, why are you planning on buying 2 sets of theese, not for the rear i hope....

Re: These stiff enough?

Sorry i didnt read what i typed i meant to say "I'm buying 2 sets, will these replace my current springs." I'm not buying 2 sets of those springs im buying 2 sets in general 1 front and 1 rear, sorry for the confusion.

Are variable rate springs good for drag and twistys?

I have a set of shocks I already purchased but i just need a set of springs that are almost a dual purpose. I need a low spring rate for the front for it to raise and plant the rear tires for weigth transfer but i want to be able to hug a nice set of S turns without feeling "loose."

Thanks

Re: These stiff enough?

drag setup and cornering setups are too different to get the perfect combination for both. You can make it ok at both but not spectacular.

What would be a good spring rate for drag racing then? Its mostly a street car but i want descent weight transfer so i can hook good.

Thanks, Chas
