Ok guys heres what i got. Its 1982 camaro with stock rear susp with some junk carquest shocks and air dragbags. Im running 15x10 wheels with as far as i can tell 5.5bs with 275/60 tires. Right now my issue is that when the car is launched it squats down onto the tires and is cutting up the sidewalls. Now i just got this car and im trying to fix this. The guy said it was only hitting the tires cuz he didnt have enough air in the bags...well my thought on that is those are a crutch for a bigger problem. Now I know i need to get some drag shocks and new springs but what springs are a good starting point?? Car will be stripped out and 10pt cage going in with no real interior and custom dash. Planning on going to a 28/10.5/15 hoosier slick(or 33/10.5 if i can swing them from a friend) so i dont wanna tear these up. Right now with the rims i got and the 275/60's the tires are right on the edge of sticking out. So what is a good starting point for rear springs?? I know nobody can tell me exactly since it will vary,just need a starting point. Thanks in advance 

not sure what rates are better for drag, since i dont really do that much, but moog Iroc replacements are as stiff as factory springs get and will raise the rear of the car and help with the tire issues. Other suspension upgrades will help limit the squat as well.

If your "stuck" with those wheels, do some sheetmetal triming & your golden.
I'm tucking 17" x 11" w/315s and they NEVER rub.

Ya i plan on doing few things to this car. But for now im gonna run the stock torque arm and LCA's. Already got some shocks on order. Not gonna go to crazy right now as Im planning a backhalf job next winter...just wanna get it drivable for this spring/summer

if he is stuck with the wheels he has, how is cutting sheetmetal going to help him? only thing he can do is roll the fenderlip, unless he gets wheels with 6 or 6.5" of bsOriginally Posted by Stephen

another bit for the OP, is the axle centered in the car? its possible that its off so one side and an adjustable panhard bar will be able to re-center it and maybe make some extra clearance so you dont rub the fender lip as much as much?

i broke a rear spring on my car once(85 coupe). i went to the salvage yard got a spring from a firebird. when i got it home i noticed it had more coils than my other springs. so i put it on the right side...find some springs from a performance model. Z28, GTA, etc

Well after the guy that i ordered my shocks from got my card # wrong I've decided to just get rims instead and adjust it with the drag bags. Now I've got the chance to get a set of 33/10.5-15 Hoosier slicks off a friend for dirt cheap but what size backspace do I need?? I believe I've got a 5.5 right now and the rim is even with the fender so im guessing a 6.5 should clear. Next question....will this work for all stock LCA's?? I know I'll have to mini-tub it just dont wanna do LCA's right now

6.5" will still require some inner fender "massaging". I'm only .5 more (7"bs) and I had to do a bit more than I expected.
5.5" to 6" & you should be safe. I'd say 6" is the MAX to get away with only a little hammer work inside.

I dont mind doing some fender massaging and since going with the 33's im sure its gonna need to be done. I just dont wanna have to change out the LCA's but if i end up having to them i guess i will since i got the tires today

lol Im sure its not gonna fit and Im gonna need to tub the rear. Im not worried bout it not fitting cuz i got a good set of tools LOL I'll post some pics of how it goes once I get the tires and wheels. Thanks for the help everyone.
