Replacing Brake Pads
Replacing Brake Pads
Does anyone have say a tutorial or a something on how to replace the brake pads? Mine started squeeling like a SOB yesterday and I am sick of it, but I don't really want to pay some shop to do it!
Thanks,
Douglas

The Haynes 82-92 Firebird (or Camaro) manual gives a photo-by-photo brake replacement guide.
If you already have tools, the only things you'll need is a c-clamp, a 3/8" Hex Socket, and a "clicking" torque wrench. You'll also need to get some silicone brake lube for the caliper-to-knuckle contact points.

In all honesty its really not that hard! I mean you get the wheel off then take the calipers off the bracket which removes it from the rotor. Once off the brake pads fall out, then take your C-Clamp and compress the rotors with the cap to your master cylinder off or loose. Slap your new pads on and reverse proceedure. While everything is kinda in the air and taken off you might want to clean everything up a little bit, and check your brake lines for anything funny!
Other wise, look in the tech section, and well if you dont find anything, give me a hollar I'll tear my wheels off and do my brakes and take pictures and make a tech article!

I just did my front brakes the other weekend and it took me less than 2 hours to do both sides so poorboy8 is correct, it really is easy. Also, if you don't already have a c-clamp, there is a cheap tool out there specifically made to do what you'd be using the c-clamp for. Check the tool section of your local parts store.
